Our client had recently developed a new block of eight offices and flats in Forest Gate, East London. One flat drew constant complaints from tenants about noise coming from the flat above, and with only two solid walls in the unit, the options were limited.
A clip and rail ceiling system was the right approach here, and the client chose our 40kg/m² mass specification. We stripped out the existing plasterboard ceiling and insulation, replaced it with RW3 insulation and installed our soundproof ceiling, sealing every joint and edge with acoustic sealant to stop sound finding a way through. As a commercial project, the client wanted the room handed back finished, so we arranged plastering and painting once the soundproofing was complete.
